What do I need?

5 GCSEs at grade C/5 or above, including Mathematics, English Language and Science. If you have studied History at GCSE then a grade B or above is an advantage but not essential. You do not need to have taken GCSE History to study A Level History.

History is a fascinating subject that allows you to investigate how key historical events and figures have shaped our thinking today.


What will I study?

Year One


Historical themes in breadth - The Angevin Empire

Depth Study - The Crusades or the French Revolution

Year Two

In addition to the Year One topics which are studied in greater depth, you will also study the topic: Protest, Agitation and Parliamentary Reform. In Year Two, you will also complete a coursework task.


How will I be assessed?

Examinations (80%)

Coursework (20%)


Where can the subject lead?

History is useful for a whole range of degree level subjects including: Law, Medicine, Psychology and many other Humanities subjects.
