What do I need?

5 GCSEs at grade C/5 or above, including Mathematics, English Language and Science. You do not need to have studied Geography at GCSE to study this A Level course.


Why Study A Level Geography?

Geography is a highly successful A-level subject at Aston Academy and will develop your independent learning skills and challenge your thinking.  It is also a lot of fun!  Geography will give you a greater understanding of people and their place and influence in the world. It will also provide you with wonderful opportunities to learn outside the classroom, participating in a range of fieldtrip experiences.

  • Coastal systems and landscapes

Year Two

  • Changing Places
  • Hazards
  • Population and the environment


How will I be assessed?

Examination (80%)

Geographical investigation (20%)

Geography is useful for a range of degree level subjects including: Law, Medicine, Town Planning, Architecture, Science subjects, History, Psychology, Sociology, Politics and many others.

Students who take Geography progress to a broad range of careers including: Law, Medicine, Teaching, Public Service, Military, ICT and Journalism; to name just some
